CHECK IT OUTImagine your favorite food sitting right in front of you. Now double that goodness with a warm aroma that reaches your nose like a blast because it smells so good. This is a gyro, and it will irresistibly be your favorite meal of the week. You bite into the lamb... wait, you can’t eat lamb? No problem, you can even make it vegetarian! Put in whatever you want, and it will still be finger-licking good. So what’s important here? It’s the outside bread! Call it pita, flatbread, or just a wrap, but this is where the initial taste begins... your journey into gyro heaven. Serve it soft and warm with your favorite fillings! WHAT YOU NEEDServing size: 4 Prep time: 5 min. 4 1/2 cups flour1 1/2 cups water1 1/3 cups Terra Creta extra virgin olive oil1 Tbs baking powder1 1/2 tsp salt DO IT THIS WAY1. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, water and Terra Creta’s extra virgin oilve oil in a bowl and mix until the dough gets spongy, not watery.2.When the dough is ready, set it down on a cutting board and knead it. 3. When you are finished kneading the bread, pour oil in a big bowl and put the dough in it to rise. Make sure to keep the dough in a warm place and leave it for 10 minutes.4. After the dough rises, cut the dough into small pieces (around 8), flatten it into a circle and cook them over medium-heat on a non-oiled pan. Poke holes with a fork all over the dough before it cooks to prevent it from creating air bubbles. Cook till there are small brown patches (not burned!) around the flat bread. The ingredients I used for the filling here are bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and Greek yogurt. If you have any recipes you want me to share, you can email me at: sahn@roscofinefoods.com
